It was a great honour and a wonderful opportunity for our choir family to perform live on Bartók Radio Day on 28 March 2026, following an invitation we received at the 10th Zoltán Kodály Hungarian Choir Competition in Budapest. Held at the Dohnányi Ernő Music Centre, the event featured individual performances by the Aurin Girls’ Choir, the Aurin Women’s Choir, and the Aurin Mixed Choir, broadcast live to listeners across Hungary on Bartók Radio.
Singing live on national radio was a truly special experience. Bartók Radio Day is one of the highlights of Hungary’s classical music calendar, bringing together outstanding performers from across the country. For many of us, it was also our first opportunity to perform in the Dohnányi Ernő Music Centre, whose excellent acoustics and modern concert hall provided an inspiring setting for the event. Although the studio-style venue has a limited audience capacity, every seat was filled, creating an intimate yet vibrant concert atmosphere. It was a moving feeling to know that, alongside the audience in the hall, thousands of listeners throughout the country were following our performances live. Moments like these are always memorable, allowing us to connect simultaneously with those in the concert hall and with music lovers listening from their homes.
When selecting the programme, our aim was to present the unique artistic identity and musical diversity of each ensemble. The Aurin Girls’ Choir performed works by Béla Bartók, József Karai, György Orbán, and Miklós Kocsár, showcasing both Hungarian folk-inspired choral music and contemporary sacred repertoire. The Aurin Mixed Choir presented a programme spanning Hungarian and international choral literature, featuring compositions by Zoltán Kodály, György Orbán, Ola Gjeilo, Árpád Barabás, and Sándor Szokolay. Following its recent outstanding success at the national choir competition, the Aurin Women’s Choir appeared with a rich and demanding programme of works by Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, Lajos Bárdos, Miklós Kocsár, and Levente Gyöngyösi, reflecting the choir’s artistic vision and commitment to high-quality choral performance.
